Supporting Our Community
Part of the mission of the RBS&HF is to support the Colorado wrestling community to ensure that wrestlers and the programs they participate in have opportunities. For example, last year, the fund provided $250 camp grants to the three Colorado schools where Coach Barron led teams—Fort Lupton High School, Heritage High School, and Columbine High School.
Last week, fund Director of Development Gail Barron identified an opportunity to help another school when she saw that Denver North High School was raising funds to buy new varsity singlets and warm-ups to replace damaged and misplaced uniforms. The RBS&HF is proud to donate $500 to the effort, which is being matched by Dick’s Sporting Goods via a fundraiser on Donors Choose.
“While wrestling is mostly an individual sport, in the end, wrestlers compete as a team,” began fund President Jennifer Paulson. “Having matching gear solidifies the connection between team members. Even when a wrestler is battling alone out on the mat, he or she knows that they have the strength of a team behind them, win or lose.”
Denver North Head Coach Gabriel Aguilera expressed gratitude for the donation and support of the RBS&HF’s commitment to the Colorado wrestling community.
